
Mark Geritz's experience in energy and resources law, project development, native title and cultural heritage legal issues includes involvement in all aspects of the development of mining, oil and gas, power and infrastructure projects.
Mark advises on large-scale due diligences, assists to obtain all regulatory approvals for a range of major gas, mining and infrastructure projects, undertakes landowner and government negotiations, deals with overlapping tenure issues and issues arising out of the new land access regime for mining and gas projects. Mark also drafts related documentation for such projects and runs Land Court and appeal proceedings and other Court and Tribunal proceedings where agreements cannot be reached with various stakeholders such as landowners and Aboriginal groups.
Mark also heads our National Native Title and Cultural Heritage Services group and has been ranked as a "First Band" (highest ranking) practitioner in Native Title by Chambers Global 2009 to 2011. Mark has conducted numerous native title and cultural heritage due diligences, provided advice in relation to the effect of native title and cultural heritage on the creation of approvals for project infrastructure, conducted negotiations with native title claimants and relevant Aboriginal cultural heritage representatives and drafted the full range of native title and cultural heritage agreements. Mark is also an active member of the Indigenous Affairs Committee of the Queensland Resources Council and a sub-committee of that committee responsible for engagement with the State on various issues including legislative amendments.
