Leading capital markets lawyer returns to Clayton Utz

Sydney, 28 October 2008: Clayton Utz has appointed Ben Sandstad as a partner in its Sydney Structured Capital Markets team, reflecting the continued growth of the firm's banking and financial services capability.

Ben will focus on securitisation, structured finance and derivative transactions within the Structured Capital Markets team, offering clients his experience in a range of jurisdictions involving diverse asset classes.

Ben's appointment marks his return to the firm where he began his legal career.

In 2004, Ben joined UK magic circle firm Linklaters and worked in its Hong Kong and Tokyo offices where he developed his expertise, advising on many high profile transactions across a range of Asian markets.

Ben said he was pleased to be returning to Clayton Utz and to a team that is widely recognised as a market leader.

The head of Clayton Utz' national Banking and Financial Services practice, Grant Fuzi, said Ben was a valuable addition to the team. "Notwithstanding current economic conditions, the Structured Capital Markets team has continued to experience a very strong pipeline of work. Ben will add even greater depth to our exceptional team."
