Opportunities at Clayton Utz
Jennifer Teh, Lawyer - Sydney
I love the fact that I call my colleagues my friends before I call them my colleagues. I love the fact that every day I get to do interesting work and I get to work with some of the best lawyers in Australia.
David Hillard, Partner - Sydney
I have had the advantage of being able to create my own job here, basically to pitch to the firm the idea of formalising a pro bono program and having somebody conduct it on a full time basis, and in 1997 that pitch was successful. The firm was very flexible about that. We were the first of the national law firms in Australia to set up a pro bono program with a full time Pro Bono Director and that wouldn't have happened I think if we'd taken a more sort of conservative, cautious role. Clayton Utz does have that capacity. They'll listen to an argument. They'll listen to a pitch that you put and they're prepared to support you through it.

And it's really great that there's so many diverse people here. You get to learn so much about different people, no one's the same and I think it's really good that they try and choose people that can bring different things to the firm. That's really important.
Yasmin Yazdani, Lawyer - Sydney
They don't look for a particular mould.

I think Clayton Utz is a great place to develop your career. They have got a strong graduate program which allows you to try different practice areas. So you can do a practice area in Corporate, in Litigation, in Financial Services, and this gives you a really great opportunity to find out what type of area is for you.
Faith Taylor, Consultant - Sydney
Clayton Utz has been a workplace that has offered me a wide range of opportunities to pursue my interest in ancient history, outside of work, which means that I have been able to work part-time for the last six years. I have also had two children in that space of time. I work three days a week or four days a week, depending on how busy I am. Without that flexibility I doubt that I would still be practising law at a large law firm.
